Elkhart Texas
The City of Elkhart is located in southern Anderson County Texas on U.S. Highway 287 between Palestine to the north, and Grapeland to the south. Highway 294 runs through the city in an east-west orientation.
Alto lies to the east, and Fairfield to the west. The town was founded in 1851, and later became an important stop on the Great Northern Railroad which provided both passenger and freight service to Elkhart.
