The City of New Boston is located in Bowie County Texas on Interstate Highway I-30. State Highway 8 and U.S. Highway 82 also cross through New Boston.
Bowie County lies in extreme northeastern Texas between the Red River and Sulphur River. The County was named for James Bowie, Alamo hero, knife-fighter, rancher and adventurer.
Boston was named for an early storekeeper in the settlement, W.J. Boston. The coming of the railroads led to the location of two more Bostons. A depot was built about four miles north of Boston and was named New Boston. The first Boston then became Old Boston.
Today, the City of New Boston is situated 26 miles west of Texarkana, and 156 miles east of Dallas.

The new Visitors Center in Trail Head Park Plaza, New Boston, Texas
Trail Head Park is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 82 and Ellis Street. It includes grassy areas and a pavilion that hosts music concerts and Pioneer Days Festival events.
The park is outlined with Victorian lights, benches and picnic tables. A trail runs from the park to Robertson Street, and then west past Scout Lake to Highway 98.
The park is also the home for the new Visitors Center and the Three Bostons Museum.
The Tapp City Park Sports Center includes eight modern baseball and softball fields.
The area also offers various outdoor recreation facilities, including Wright Patman Lake and Milwood Lake. The Oak Grove Golf Club is located four miles east of New Boston.
New Boston also offers visitors a number of lodging options and restaurants.
